now the annual number of complaints has to be recorded by institution. this means more power for students, because universities will have much more to lose by not dealing properly with complaints. this is all so different from the way things were when i left university more than ten years ago. then, students had almost no rights whatsoever. the only complaints procedure was the Visitor system, and that was a joke.
